Everywhere we went in Muslim countries, we saw lovely gardens designed to take advantage of the cooling effect of water in hot countries. Bursa in Turkey, for instance, could be called the city of fountains. This garden in Cordoba, photographed in 2002, was built when the Moors were in control of southern Spain and is the most beautiful garden we have seen.
