TRAVEL THE WORLD - POINTE DU RAZ , BRITTANY, FRANCE

Pointe du Raz which we visited in 2008 is the most desolate place we have ever seen. Our visit was impaired by terrible weather - rainy, overcast and extremely windy. The walk from the car park took about twenty minutes, giving plenty of time for both the rain and the bleak atmosphere to soak in. There is nothing there except a lighthouse and a sculpture of the Blessed Virgin honouring the ship-wrecked - a thoroughly depressing part of the world, but one that made an unforgettable impression. This point was the most westerly piece of land in Brittany.
