TRAVEL THE WORLD - EXMOOR, DEVON, U.K.

Another example, also from 2002, of the beauty of the English countryside, this one from Exmoor in Devon.

TRAVEL THE WORLD - LYNMOUTH, DEVON, U.K.

This photo of Watersmeet was taken in 2002 near Lynmouth in Devon. This was the longest walk we have ever taken. The path took us high above Lynmouth and down again to this lovely spot. On the way back we walked with a very nice English couple, making a perfect end to a perfect day.

TRAVEL THE WORLD - CORNWALL, ENGLAND

Here we are in 2002 at breakfast in a very remote part of Cornwall near Falmouth. We were not enjoying ourselves in Spain, and so took a very late evening flight to London. Then, we went on by train to Devon and Cornwall for a wonderful two weeks in the West Country. Although it was October, the weather was warm and sunny for the entire time, and the lady who operated this B&B treated us like royalty, even inviting us to join her for an informal evening with several of her friends. I'm sure we could never find the place again. It was a few miles from a main road. Reaching it meant driving on very narrow lanes with barely enough room for a car to pass between the hedgerows. Our days were spent walking and enjoying wonderful views overlooking the sea.

TRAVEL THE WORLD - LYNTON, DEVON, UK

We stayed a few days here at Lynton in Devon in 2002. The town overlooks the Bristol Channel several hundred feet above its sister town, Lynmouth, which sits below at the mouth of the river Lyn. We stayed at a very nice guest house run by a lovely couple who treated us almost as if we were family. The husband invited Paul for a golf game at his club while I spent an enjoyable afternoon chatting with his wife. During our stay we climbed to the summit of the surrounding hills where there are spectacular views.
